Information on the Artist
Roxie Spell is a clay artist living in Pasco County Florida. She works with stoneware and she also works with polymer clay. She is a member of The Potter's Council, Gulf Coast Artists' Alliance, Pasco Arts Council and the Potter's Guild of Florida's Gulf Coast.
I have been surrounded by art since I became aware. From Music, Dance, Theater and Art Museums, I was fortunate enough to be exposed to many forms of art. My interest was peaked with the third dimension of art. The ability to see all sides of a piece fascinated me. As I got older, I became more interested in the beauty and the art of nature. The simplicity yet the complication of a leaf, the gnarled trunk of an aged tree, flowing water, snowflakes, wind blowing and the creatures of the land, air and sea. Seeing the beauty in life and in nature I try to create pieces that reflect that vision. I use natural colors and love the organic imperfections of high fire glazes. Each piece is unique and original and I try to create something that is not only beautiful but also functional . From leaf vessels and my tea leaves, to hand carved scenes of nature or the title of the piece. I strive to represent art in nature and nature in art.
